Regularly scheduled bus tours with set tour start times and durations are often not suitable for cruise ship passengers. Tours might start before your ship docks or not return in time before your ship is due to set off again. That is why we have created special shore excursion tours with start times to suit the ships docking on any given day.

BusTravel Iceland has been operating tours from the Reykjavik area for over 60 years, offering a variety of tours to Iceland’s best attractions. We have tours departing from the capital, Reykjavík, Akureyri in North Iceland, and Ísafjörður in the remote Westfjords. For summer 2024, we will be also be operating Húsavík, Seyðisfjörður, and Grundarfjörður shore excursions.

Shore Excursions are sightseeing and activity tours with schedules designed to suit the docking times of visiting cruise ships. Our tours offer wonderful introductions to the different regions and landscaped Iceland has to offer.
BusTravel Iceland offer shore excursions from 6 ports around Iceland; Reykjavík, Grundarfjörður, Ísafjörður, Akureyri, Húsavík, and Seyðisfjörður.
Yes! BusTravel Iceland´s shore excursions have tailored start times, with each departure set up with the ships in dock that day in mind. We still advise that you double check to make sure our tour ends at least 30mins before your ship is scheduled to depart. If in doubt please contact our Customer Service team.
We advise everyone booking our Shore Excursions to take out third-party travel insurance to conver themselves for this eventuality. We only offer refunds when out tour is canceled due to bad weather, not when your ship cannot dock due to bad weather. Luckily it is rare that ships fail to make their docking times in Iceland in the summer season.
If you book 3 or more tours with BusTravel Iceland, you can get a 10% discount. Contact our Customer Service department for more information.
Yes, we highly recommend booking your shore tour in advance. Demand is very high as there are often several ships in dock at the same time. Our buses are often totally sold out by the day of the tour.
If there are still unsold seats remaining, yes you can. However some ports have only a few operators with a limited number of seats, so it´s always best to book in advance.
