Dynjandi Waterfall & Icelandic Horse Farm Tour with German-speaking guide

The perfect half-day tour from Ísafjörður is now offered in German for the summer shore escursion season.
The highlight of the day is our visit to one of Iceland´s most astonishing waterfalls – the majestic Dynjandi waterfall. Many artists have taken inspiration from the bridel veil like appearance of these falls – the cascade doubles in width at its base compared to its top. The West Fjords are remote and isolate – most travelers to Iceland don´t carve out enough time to visit here, making Dynjandi something on an unsung gem. If you are arriving by ship to Ísafjörður, grasp the opportunity and let us take you there!
We will also pay a stop at the idyllic surrounds of Gemlufall farm where you can meet friendly Icelandic horses and pet the baby lambs. Savor a warm cup of fresh coffee or tea with a slice of traditional Icelandic Happy Marriage Cake. This tour offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, local culture, and delicious treats – a truly unique Icelandic experience!

Meeting pointCruise ship dock in ÍsafjörðurOur bus will be waiting for you by the cruise exit. Once everyone is onboard, we head out of town and take the mountain tunnel of Vestfjarðagöng. On emerging from the tunnel on the other side of the mountain, we venture onwards through a series of small villages, stunning fjords and sheer faced mountains, before we reach Dynjandi waterfall, our furst stop of the day.

1 Dynjandi WaterfallDynjandi Waterfall is one of the pearls of the West Fjords region. It was somewhat obscure until in recent years when the number of cruise ship visitors has increased. These remote falls are now renowned for striking beauty. What makes the waterfall special is it´s unique shape – the falls measure about 30m wide at the top, before widening to an imoressive 60m at its bottom.
The name Dynjandi means “thunderous,” “pouring,” or “resounding” in Icelandic – an apt name considering the powerful, sweeping cascade that defines this spot.
From the parking area, a gentle 15-minute walk along well-marked trails leads toward the falls, which dominate immediately – even from a distance, the view is captivating enough to leave a lasting impression.. Along the way, you’ll encounter a series of smaller cascades, each adding to the anticipation of the main attraction.

2 Gemlufell Traditional Icelandic FarmNext we visit the charming working farm at Gemlufell, situated in the idyllic landscape of the Dýrar fjord coastline. Learn about the joys and challenges of running a farm in this remote location. You have the opportunity to hold and pet the baby lambs as well as to interact with Icelandic horses up close. These diminutive creatures are a unique breed and you will learn about them during your visit.
We also offer fresh coffee and Icelandic sweet treats on the farm before you rejoin the bus.
