Each tour has a planned itinerary which can be altered without prior notice.
All our tours are operated all year round except for the Northern lights. They are only operated from September to April. The Boat tour at the Glacier lagoon is also only operated in the summer time.
During winter, the tours are organized so that the stops at the sites are during daylight.
Our tours do not include food (unless otherwise specified in the tour itinerary). However we make many stops along the way for the chances to purchase food. You are more then welcome to bring your own that you feel necessary.
We have plenty of room for storage for those who need to bring along larger carry on items such as: luggage, fold up wheelchair, strollers.
We only pick up and drop off in Reykjavik city center.
All accommodations that are within in the downtown area may not be possible for our buses to access, so we must redirect to designated Tour Bus Stops. The bus stops are regulated by Reykjavik city council and can be found in this map here.
About our vehicles
We operate the tours in different sizes of buses. The size of the bus depends on the number of bookings.
Our premium tours are guaranteed on a small bus.
Our fleet consists of new Mercedes Bench coaches, Mercedes Benz sprinters and Setra coaches.
Our goal is to have all high quality buses in perfect condition with wifi on board, and with heating and air conditioning equipped with modern and necessary seasonal features. All our vehicles meet all the requirements to operate tours in Iceland.
Upon request, children’s seats are available. Please provide the height and weight of your children.
Our drivers and guides
All of our drivers and guides are experienced with all the necessary licenses to transport passengers in Iceland.
All our guides are professional English speakers.
Our guides are happy to answer questions you may have during the tour.
Pick up information
We offer free pickup from most hotels, hostels and guesthouses in the downtown Reykjavik.
We do not pick up or drop off in Hafnarfjörður, Kópavogur, Garðabær, Keflavík or Grindavík. We do not pick up from private accommodations – Air BnB.
If your accommodation is outside of Reykjavík, the easiest pick up locations to reach are BSI Bus Terminal or Hlemmur square, where most city buses stop. You can find information about local buses in Reykjavik and Iceland on the website of strætó, the city bus operator.
You will be dropped off at the same location you have been picked up from – when possible depending on traffic and the size of the street. Or you can ask the driver to drop you off at another location in downtown Reykjavík. If so, please arrange this while being at one of the sites, not right before reaching Reykjavik, to avoid drop off taking too long time and misunderstandings.
The airport and Blue Lagoon transfers are operated by Airport DIrect and Destination Blue Lagoon respectively. They have another pick up system which means that their hotel pick up starts 30 minutes before starting time on the ticket.
You do not need to print out the tickets. Save them on your digital device to show the driver when getting on the bus.
We accept all major credit and debit cards.
For cash payment we preferably accept Icelandic Krona, if you want to pay with another currency, please contact us as early as possible on firstname.lastname@example.org
You can find the official exchange rates for ISK on the website of the Icelandic Central Bank or a currency converter here.
Based on our terms and conditions we require a 24 hours notice for cancellation of a tour to qualify for a full refund.
We will always post any holiday or seasonal promotions on our social media outlets @bustraveliceland
What to wear
Iceland is a place with very unstable weather so you can expect anything at any time. Warm, wind- and waterproof clothing is recommended.
During the winter you may find icy walkways so having a pair of ice-grips is not a bad idea.
All our tours are rather easy going so no need of any special gear.
Lunch and snacks
Lunch and snacks are not included in any of our day tours unless announced on the tour information page.
The bus stops at Geysir for lunch during the Grand Golden Circle tour, at Vik during the Southern Iceland tour, at Freysnes and Vik for lunch and dinner during the Glacier Lagoon tour.
Frequent stops for restrooms and snacks are scheduled on every tour.
