Private Diamond Circle Tour from Akureyri

This region is rich in folklore, with many attractions linked to myths of the norse gods. We start at Lake Mývatn and the nearby Hverir hot-springs, with it´s bubbling mud-pools. We visit Dettifoss Waterfall, is said to be Europe´s second most powerful falls. It is vast and stretches 100m in width, and is 45 metres high. Góðafoss waterfall is known as the waterfalls of the gods, and we stop here to enjoy the peaceful suurrounding, a world away from the raging torrents of Dettifoss. Ásbrygi, is an enormous canyon with sheer cliff faces, purported to have been formed by the shoe of Óðin´s horse, Sleipnir. In reality it formed due to catastrophic glacial flooding. Locals told their own tales to explain the landscape where they lived, long before scientists uncovered the less fantastical truth.
We also make stop at Húsavík, a small village which found fame in Netflix´s Eurovision movie, starring Will Ferrell. See the strange basalt formations at Hljóðaklettar, a remnant of an ancient volcanic eruption.
