Frequent Asked Questions about 8-Day Tour
If your multi-day tour package includes accommodation, breakfast will be provided at the hotel restaurant. However, unless specifically stated in the tour description, meals and beverages are generally not included in the tour cost. During our multi-day tours, we will stop at various restaurants and convenience stores where you can purchase any essentials. Credit cards are widely accepted, and although carrying a small amount of cash isn’t necessary, it can be convenient in some situations
Breakfast is included at all the hotels during the tour, offering a standard buffet with options like bread, toppings, cereal, yogurt, fruits, coffee, and tea. For lunch, your guide will choose a venue with a diverse menu to suit everyone’s tastes, ensuring a wide selection of dishes. Dinner is usually served at the hotels where we stay overnight.
When you book with BusTravel Iceland, you can expect accommodation at a comfortable country hotel and/or guesthouse. Our partner hotels maintain a high standard, providing cozy rooms with pre-made beds. Depending on your reservation, rooms may come with either private or shared bathrooms. The standard room setup is a twin, but you can request a double or triple room at no extra charge. If triple rooms are unavailable, which can happen at some hotels, you will be provided with one twin/double room and one single room. Solo travelers can choose a single room for an additional fee. All our hotels offer free Wi-Fi and amenities such as towels, a hairdryer, and a kettle. A complimentary breakfast is also included with your stay.
While a single room is an option for those desiring a private room, it is not mandatory. If you're a solo traveler and choose not to reserve a single room, you will be paired with another traveler of the same gender. If you choose to reserve your own private room, you are required to pay a Single Room Fee during the payment process. For reservations for two people, a double room will be assigned, and there is no need to pay a supplement fee unless an additional private room is desired. If the reservation is for three people, one triple room will be automatically assigned, but when triple rooms are not available as it’s not guaranteed at all hotels, you would get 1 Twin/Double room and 1 Single Room. No supplement fee needs to be paid unless an extra private room is requested. For reservations of four or more people, two double rooms will be assigned, and there is no need to pay a supplement fee unless another private room is desired.
In Iceland, it’s common for beds to feature separate mattresses and duvets, even for couples. Most hotels offer two separate beds that can be easily combined to form a larger bed, a standard practice throughout the country. The standard bed sizes in Iceland are typically 90 cm (35 in) wide by 200 cm (79 in) long for a single bed, and when two single beds are joined, they create a double bed with a width of 180 cm (71 in). In some cases, a single room may offer a double bed that measures 140 cm (55 in) wide by 200 cm (79 in) long.
During our multi-day tours, we cover an average distance of around 300 km (186 miles) per day. Expect to spend approximately 4-5 hours in the car daily. We make several stops for sightseeing, activities, bathroom breaks, and lunch, ensuring a balanced and enjoyable journey.
Many of the hotels we use during our multi-day tours are situated in remote locations that are far away from light pollution, making them ideal for Northern Lights sightings. If the weather conditions are favorable, there's a high likelihood of seeing the enchanting display of the dancing Northern Lights during your tour with us. Most hotels also provide a Northern Lights wake-up call upon request at the frontdesk when the lights are observed. Please keep in mind that the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, and we cannot guarantee their appearance, the best chances of seeing them occur between September and March when the skies are dark and clear.
We highly advise booking a multi-day tour with a start date at least one day after your arrival in Iceland. While it might be feasible to join the tour if arriving early, especially from the US or landing in the early morning (4-6:30 am), there are potential risks such as flight delays that could result in missing out on the tour.
During multi-day tours, each participant is permitted to bring a small backpack and one piece of luggage weighing a maximum of 20 kg (44 lbs). If you have additional or heavier luggage, you must arrange storage for the excess baggage before your arrival, and a nominal fee applies for using this service. You can add luggage storage in Reykjavík during the booking process in the extras section. Note that the combined dimensions of each bag should not exceed 158 cm (62 in).
We warmly welcome participants of all ages beyond the specified minimum age for each tour, with individuals ranging from 6 to 99 years old joining our multi-day tours. Typically, our average group comprises participants aged between mid-20s and mid-60s years. Our tours attract a diverse range of participants, including solo travelers, families, and groups of friends. If, at any point during the tour, you encounter difficulties participating in certain activities, such as a glacier excursion, you are encouraged to skip it. During this time, you can explore the surroundings or wait in an alternative location. Our guide will be happy to drop you off at a nearby place where services are available.
