Join a full-day tour from Reykjavík to Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, traveling along Iceland’s South Coast and experiencing a range of natural landmarks.

This 14-hour journey follows the Ring Road, showcasing diverse landscapes, colors and geological formations leading to one of Iceland’s most remarkable destinations.

What will you see on the South Coast tour?

During the journey, you will stop at several locations along the coast.

  • Stjórnarfoss waterfall
  • Vík í Mýrdal village
  • Reynisdrangar sea stacks
  • Seljalandsfoss waterfall

Explore the coastal landscapes of South Iceland, including waterfalls, black sand beaches and seaside viewpoints. In Vík, there is time to take in the views and optionally stop for dinner.

What is the Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon boat ride like?

Take a boat trip on Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, sailing among floating icebergs formed by the Vatnajökull glacier.

Observe the ice formations up close, where crystal-clear ice contrasts with volcanic ash and the surrounding landscape.

Nearby Diamond Beach features ice blocks scattered across black sand, creating one of Iceland’s most distinctive natural scenes.

If you’d like to explore more on the water, you can also discover our amphibian boat tour at Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon.

This tour combines a glacier lagoon boat experience with South Coast sightseeing, offering a full-day journey through Iceland’s natural landscapes.

Frequently Asked Questions
The glacier lagoon day tour from Reykjavík lasts about 14 hours, making it one of the longest day tours in Iceland. The drive from Reykjavík to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon is approximately 380 km each way, which takes around 5 hours under normal conditions. Including rest stops, sightseeing breaks, and the return journey, guests can expect a full-day experience with plenty of opportunities to stretch, explore, and enjoy the scenery along the way.
Yes. We offer a Glacier Lagoon & South Coast day tour without the boat ride, allowing you to fully experience Iceland’s South Coast and Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon from land. This option is ideal for travelers who prefer sightseeing without additional activities. The boat ride on the glacier lagoon operates only from May to October, which is why the tour including the boat ride is available only during this period. BusTravel Iceland operates the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon & South Coast day tour daily, with the boat ride offered as a separate tour option during the summer season.
Unfortunately, it’s not possible to join a glacier tour from Jökulsárlón when you are taking the Glacier Lagoon day tour from Reykjavík. Glacier tours from Jökulsárlón typically take 3–4 hours, and because of the long driving distance back to the capital, there wouldn’t be enough time to complete the glacier activity and still make the return journey with the group. However, we recommend joining a 2-day South Iceland tour if you’d like to experience an ice cave adventure. On Day 2, you’ll have plenty of time for the glacier activity, as well as the opportunity to fully enjoy Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and the Diamond Beach at a more relaxed pace.
We will have lunch and dinner stops along the way. Meals and drinks are not included on this tour.
Your safety is our number one priority. With this in mind, BusTravel Iceland reserves the right to adjust the itinerary and/or take alternative routes depending on conditions. Please refer to our cancellation policy for more information.
